Take care of your own problems before criticizing
others (Matthew 7:3-5)
3 Why
do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the log in your
own eye? 4 Or
how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and
look, there’s a log in your eye? 5 Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then
you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. -- Matt 7:3-5 (HCSB)
Criticism should help people deepen their relationship
with God (Luke 17:3-5)
3 Be on your guard.
If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he
sins against you seven times in a day, and comes back to you seven times,
saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”5 The apostles said to the Lord,
“Increase our faith.” -- Luke 17:3-5 (HCSB)
Criticism should be given with a loving attitude
(1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
4 Love
is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful,
is not conceited, 5 does not act improperly, is not selfish, is
not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. -- 1 Cor
13:4-5 (HCSB)
Harsh criticism can destroy rather than help
(Galatians 5:15)
15 But
if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one
another. -- Gal 5:15 (HCSB)
